How do I get rid of a slippery belt surface on our treadmill?

Just bought the Proform treadmill off of Ebay..for 99 cents because they didn’t have a key. Anyway, it works great but my wonderful husband “cleaned it up” by wiping the belt with Armor All!!!!!! How can I scuff it up a bit, it’s veyr slippery as you can imagine!!!

It you don’t care what it looks like, and sandpaper isn’t doing the trick, try roughing it up with a wire brush. It won’t look too good, but at least you won’t fall off.
