Cybex 400 Stepper

Are the foot pegs suppose to go all the way down on a stair stepper?

I just bought a used Cybex 400 stair stepper. It is gym quality, and electronic. The problem is I don’t seem to feel the resistance. The electronic screen shows 8 different programs. YOu input your time and your weight and pick a program. BUT if you don’t lift your foot up soon enough, both foot pegs “sink” down. There seems to be little resistance to the foot pegs. I am in good shape but this type of machine is killing me. Is this normal for a gym quality stair stepper?

No, the pedals should never hit the floor. That would mean you aren’t stepping fast enough. Try changing the intensity to the lowest level. That should slow the pedals down so that you don’t have to step as fast to keep it from hitting the floor. You have have to adjust the weight also – put in a weight heavier than you actually are to see if it will add resistance.
