What is wrong with my Treadmill?
I have a Pro-form 730i treadmill that I bought 3 years ago. It was working just fine until yesterday. When I turn it on everything is normal until I start it by pressing 3 (which means I want to start at 3mph). Nothing happens. It will not start moving like it normally would. I don’t understand because everything is lit up on the console. I tried the trouble shoot section of the user manual and none of the options seem to fit what is wrong. I tried to start it 10 min. ago and it started, but I was not ready to use it yet, I just wanted to see if it was working. Now I am ready to work out and now nothing. Can someone please help!! You have a bad power board OR motor controller board, one of the two. If this is the 730i cooling breeze, they are combined onto the same board, the MC2100WA. You need to take the plastic hood off the motor to inspect it. Under the hood you will find a tech sheet that describes which LED lights on the board you need to look for, it’s just an advanced trouble shooting guide. If you follow those instructions you will figure out which board it is, and if it’s just the one board, confirm that this is indeed the problem(it very likely is). It’s pretty simple to replace them.
You can buy replacement boards from the manufacturer(about $140.00 + taxes and shipping) or a few other companies, or you can find them on Ebay for about half price or less. You can even buy them from me, I’m pretty competitive with ebay.
What’s more important is that you consider what caused the board to go bad in the first place. It’s most likely friction, so you’ll want to buy a lube kit on ebay, 15- 20 dollars and a surge suppressors wouldn’t hurt either.
Let me know if you have any trouble. Like I said, I’m pretty sure this is the problem, but not 100%, because the MC2100WA is a pretty good quality board, and doesn’t go bad nearly as often as previous ones did. If it turns out not to be the problem we can talk more about the details.
